These films sit close to the ground, following people who make compromised choices not out of malice but because poverty, addiction, or exploitation has narrowed every other option. Again and again the camera stays intimate rather than sensational, tracking a body under economic or bureaucratic pressure — trafficked, undocumented, addicted, underage — until the moral question stops being "was this wrong" and becomes "what else could she have done." What lingers across them is that unglamorous specificity: the winter light, the family debt, the false name, the small betrayal that keeps someone alive one more day.
