Cursed and Cornered: No-Escape Horror

The pattern here isn't just isolation, it's provocation followed by punishment: someone disturbs a tomb, a deck, a ritual site, an old grudge, and the resulting entity doesn't chase so much as methodically close off every exit. Settings do double duty as prisons—a warship, a castle, a swamp, a forest, a single cursed town—so the dread comes from geography as much as monster design. What recurs isn't gore for its own sake but the specific helplessness of characters realizing too late that the rules were set before they arrived, and that knowledge of those rules is the only thing that might save them, if it isn't already too late.
