Family Under Fire
These aren't ensemble dramas about families in peril so much as stories where a hardened or compromised protagonist — an ex-hitman, a cop, a widow, a veteran — has violence from their past or profession collide with the fragile duty of protecting one specific child, parent, or sibling. The tension never comes from the threat alone, but from the protagonist's own history making them both the danger and the last line of defense. Redemption here is earned through protection, not confession.
