Crime and Thriller
These films keep circling back to the same trap: a protagonist who starts out chasing an answer and ends up unable to trust anyone around them, including the people they love. Whether it's a detective, journalist, undercover agent, or grieving mother, the investigation itself becomes corrosive, exposing corruption, deception, or violence that implicates the very institutions or relationships meant to protect them. The result is less about whodunit than about the paranoia and moral compromise of finding out.
