Justice and Freedom
What links these films isn't a genre but a recurring confrontation with systems that fail individuals — courtrooms, institutions, churches, and social hierarchies that claim authority over truth and get it wrong. Again and again, the story follows someone pushing against that machinery, whether it's a documentary crew exposing a wrongful conviction, a lawyer wrestling with his own motives, or a mother uncovering decades of institutional silence. Even the outliers in tone (a musical, a silent comedy, a family ghost story) share that same undercurrent: ordinary people testing whether the structures around them can be trusted, and finding out only through struggle.
