What links these films is the body or self as a site of danger — something goes in (a serum, a virus, a mask, an evolutionary leap) and what comes out is no longer fully trustworthy, whether that's a mutant snake, a duplicated neighbor, a bullied teenager turned monster, or a scientist unraveling his own mind. Even the outliers that aren't creature-features share the undertow: marriages, families, and identities quietly transforming into something unrecognizable, for better or worse. The tone swings from grotesque comedy to genuine dread to real grief, but nearly every entry treats change itself as the thing to fear, mourn, or reckon with.
