Slow Emotional Collapse
Meditations on Quiet Ruin
These films dwell in the aftermath rather than the event itself — the day after the addiction, the years after the disappearance, the silence following a confession never made. Their characters move through ordinary tasks (driving, teaching, stealing a car, searching a landscape) while carrying an internal collapse that never fully surfaces, and resolution, when it comes, is partial at best. What lingers isn't tragedy itself but the slow, private erosion it leaves behind.
