A tender, melancholic portrait of childhood friendship and coming-of-age in post-war Osaka, where innocence gradually gives way to the harsh realities of class, mortality, and injustice.

Two boys, whose parents ply their trade by the mouth of a muddy river in Osaka, become close friends.
