Our Folks: The Beginning
Directed by Artur Żmijewski
Produced by CK Dezerterzy, Filmoteka Narodowa – Instytut Audiowizualny
A comedic-dramatic prequel exploring the origins of a legendary neighbor feud in 20th-century Poland, balancing humor with the tensions of displacement and village life.
Pawlak and Kargul – the protagonists of the cult-favourite trilogy “Our Folks” – had been neighbours in a village in Podolia before they ended up in the Recovered Territories. Even then, it was one explosive neighbourhood.
